Eileen M. Adkins, Professional Organizer Serving Northeast Ohio
My first recollection of my personal organization skills dates back to the second grade when Sr. Catherine Marie awarded me the ‘Neatest Desk Award’. I was so proud of my accomplishment and continued through all my school years to keep my desk and locker in award-winning condition! Little did I know then that it would lead me to a career as a professional organizer.
I don’t know if my award was the cause or effect of my need to nurture my organizational skills, but it stuck with me throughout my life. Whether at work or home, being organized has kept me sane! Living organized and letting go of clutter has helped bring calm to my surroundings and allowed me the time to focus on what is really important in my life.
Before joining the ranks of today's professional organizers, I worked full time outside the home in office administration for more than 15 years. Being organized was always key to my success though, in keeping myself and an office staff ranging from 5 to 50 employees on track and reaching our goals.
Raising twins in a small home brought on a whole new skill set! Keeping our home in order, packing up 2 infants in the morning, and getting to the office was no small task. As the twins and our family grew so did my obligations.
Over the years my focus changed from full-time employee to full-time volunteer and part-time employee. I became the ‘Den Mom’ for Boy Scouts and ‘Room Mom’ at the elementary school, putting my personal organization skills to use to plan the class parties and the annual carnival! My part-time job with a national retail clothing store kept me busy as well. Prepping the store for corporate walk-throughs was my main focus and everything had to look perfect.
I continued my volunteer services through the years with my Parish of St. Mary Chardon, Chardon Local Schools, Geauga County Habitat for Humanity, Geauga County Woman Safe, and Geauga County 4H Programs.
Today, my desire to help others achieve the rewards that organization brought to my life has become my focus. I'm located in Chardon, and routinely work with residents from Hudson and Concord, to Beachwood and Gates Mills, Bentleyville and Bainbridge, and many other surrounding communities. When you're ready to organize your life, turn to a professional organizer to help you get the job done.

CHS staff lounge gets makeover after a chance meeting between two Chardon Moms!
While spending the afternoon serving lunch in the high school staff lounge this past spring I could not help but notice the heavy feeling in the room. At first I thought it was just my need to get things organized, so I began to do a few things here and there. After about an hour I knew it needed much more than that. I knew the tragic event of a few months earlier could never be erased, but I wanted to help diminish it a little.
The next evening while speaking with Kerry Banks, a teacher at Mentor High School, she told me how the Mentor teachers raised some funds for Chardon and if I had any thoughts on how they should spend it. All I could think of was that lounge! Lets give the staff a place to relax during their hectic day. Teachers giving to teachers! With the help of the Chardon maintenance staff we got to work...
We started by removing items being stored in the room and moved other items to gain easy access. This opened up the room enough to allow for a much needed refrigerator and also gained seating space.
The walls received a fresh coat of blue paint that immediately transformed the atmosphere of the room. A new counter top with sink and open shelving was installed. We were able to replace all the old mismatched seating with new chairs for a cleaner look. New vinyl tack boards were added for the teachers personal use.
All cabinets and drawers were purged of old or unused items. Drawer liners and dividers for silverware were added as well as some new items for staff use. Containers were added to hold daily use items such as plates and cups and placed conveniently on the new open shelving. Additional containers were added at each table on the counters for easy access.
The new school year is underway and the lounge is being enjoyed by all staff members! Check out the photo gallery for pics.
